Maureen Carroll, the creator of these 18th and 19th Century handmade creations, remembers her friends in high school making fun of her for spending so much time in the school's art room. What they didn’t realize was that she needed to be there. Her day was not complete if she couldn’t spend time creating something. She still feels the same way.

She began making game boards several years ago after her husband and she purchased the 200 year old post and beam farmhouse where he grew up. She wanted to create a wall of game boards in her living room, but the actual antique boards were quite expensive so made one for herself.

Shortly thereafter, she made a millinery bonnet form for herself, and customers of her newly-formed business loved it and started asking to see full size dolls. She fell in love with doll making - watching as each little personality comes to life as she is molding the faces, the arms and feet. The images of how they will be posed and what their little outfits will look like as she sifts through the vintage fabrics and trims that now take over much of her studio.

She frequents flea markets and antique shops in hopes of finding that one amazing treasure that will make another doll so special.
